Resource: Communication strategies
Introduction
Transition can be a period of high stress for many staff, students, and parents and carers. Many parents and carers become emotional when they worry about their young people, particularly when it comes to issues like making friends, or being bullied. This is completely normal, but it can sometimes be distressing for teachers to be on the receiving end of an unhappy parent or carer. For this reason, it is important to consider preventative methods for communicating with others, and explore approaches for engaging in conflict and conflict resolution practices.
