Learning activity 1 – Self-assessment checklist

School will currently have their own designs providing a checklist of dates, events, and contacts. The dates are significant for both primary and secondary sites to establish communication with teaching staff and leadership, with students and parents and carers. It will involve timetabling events that will include establishing teacher/leader contacts, student teaching and learning tasks and activities, resourcing communication, and informing parents and carers.

The purpose of this learning activity is for you to develop or build upon a checklist resource. Use the example provided as a guide or as your resource (don’t re-invent the wheel if you don’t need to).

    Format

A checklist can be paper or electronic. A checklist can also be a ‘roadmap’ highlighting the steps along the way, with a timeline and explanations highlighting your events or steps along the path.

    Discuss with your colleagues:

    • What do we already do?
    • What do we need to do?
    • Are there any particular challenges in our school that need attention?

    Examples

The following are examples of checklists that you can use to adapt to your school and student needs. This can be used as a working document, revised each year to incorporate changes and to meet the needs of each student cohort.
