Learning activity 2e – That students will act with integrity

That students will act with integrity

Integrity is about sticking to our own positive standards of behaviour, even when nobody will know of our actions or check on us. If a person lacks integrity, it is often difficult to trust that they will behave well. However, because different people have different ideas about what is “good behaviour”, sometimes it is difficult to decide whether someone has integrity.

Discussion points

  • Do you think you have integrity? What are some standards or principles that you always stick to?
  • Is it ok to let our standards drop every so often? Explain your thinking.
  • Why is it important to act with integrity? What might happen if integrity wasn’t important? Think of some examples.

The discussion points above are exactly that – discussion points. You do not need to find a complete answer to the questions. You don’t even need to have your group agree with each other! The important thing is that you think about where you stand on these topics. And it is ok to change your mind – many times! Thinking about standards of behaviour helps us understand the rules and regulations around us.
