Giving your child a voice

It is very important that you ask your child what they want to do, and listen to your child's concerns. This will help your child to feel that they have some control over the situation.

Your child may not want you to talk to their teacher or school staff. Make sure to create a safe space where your child understands that there are people that want to help them. Suggest making an appointment to talk to your child's teacher or principal together, but also allow your child a chance to talk to them on their own.

If you are worried that your child is in danger, contact the school immediately. They can also help you to contact the police.
